Why watch this film?
"World War Z" is a movie full of tension and action-packed sequences that will keep the viewer on the edge of their seat, and guarantee engagement even for people who don't like the subgenre. The beginning suffers from some entanglements in the script, but from the moment the Brad Pitt character separates from his family to embark on a journey in search of a cure, the movie takes off and gains a much smoother rhythm. Brad Pitt leads the film with strength and sensitivity, in a role in which his interest in acting is visible. The movie features a range of memorable sequences, and its original narrative brings a new face to the genre, renewing its established concepts and opening up room for exploration, even though the movie suffers from some problems in its conception and values. Thus, "World War Z" establishes itself as a new classic among zombie films, and an essential for fans who are looking for something a little different from the usual zombie horror.

Christopher Robin
Winnie the Pooh (or Puff the Magic Dragon, for those more familiar with the older version) has enchanted many generations with his books and animations. Now the beloved character returns in a story that takes place years after the stories written by Alan Alexander Milne. The little boy from those adventures, Christopher Robin, is no longer a child: now he’s an adult with family, job, and responsibilities, having forgotten his childhood and the friends he had. This time, the character represents everyone who grew up with Pooh's stories, but disconnected from their origins. From here, the movie follows a path (in a light way) to re-connect us to these origins through the protagonist’s journey. A beautiful movie with lovely cinematography (using the color palette to differentiate its different moments and places) for the whole family to enjoy.
Monster's Ball
"The Last Supper" is marked in history as the only production that earned an Oscar for best actress to a black woman - it took 73 years for this to happen and, so far, Halle Berry remains the only one to have won in this category. She is outstanding in her role and stands out alongside any actor in this movie. In addition, the film brings a sensitive and realistic narrative about the life of prisoners on death row.
Quantum of Solace
Second movie in the James Bond franchise starring Daniel Craig, which serves as a direct continuation of 'Casino Royale' - with the secret agent seeking revenge for what happened to his beloved Vesper Lynd. Unfortunately, the production suffered from the rush caused by the writers' strike that was happening at the time, and Craig's injury during filming. This resulted in a movie that clearly did not have a properly polished script when it was shot - resulting in a story with little cohesion or appeal. Still, 'Quantum of Solace' has great action scenes and evolves this (still) new Bond.
The Kite Runner
The book 'The Kite Runner', by Khaled Hosseini, became a bestseller in the mid-2000s - and it wasn't by chance. The work portrays the political, social and religious transformations of Afghanistan from the 1970s, starting with an almost dreamlike view of life in the country at the time, but gradually reality is imposed, with the backdrop of the fall of the monarchy in 1973, the coup in 1978, the Soviet invasion of 1979 and, finally, the rise of the Taliban. All this to accompany the friendship between Amir and Hassan, which, between their meetings and misunderstandings, works as a metaphor for what happened in the country. The film adaptation, directed by Marc Foster ('007: Quantum of Solace'), seeks to bring to the screen all this experience. Unfortunately, passages that give layers to the story had to be cut, for time reasons, but still we have a feature film that helps to understand the transformation in Afghan society and the evils of religious fundamentalism, corruption, intervention of great powers, war and ethnic and social hatred.
A Man Called Otto
"A Man Called Otto", the Swedish film from 2015, became an unexpected success around the world. It had good box office, won Oscar nominations. Naturally, then, eight years later an adaptation from the United States arrives with "The Worst Neighbor in the World". Produced and starred by Tom Hanks ("Elvis"), the film makes a basic remake, as we expect from these American adaptations, but knows how to move. To do this, the story follows Otto (Hanks), a grumpy old man who gave up on life after the loss of his wife and wants to end it all. But when a young family moves into the neighborhood, he finds a refreshment with the perceptive Marisol (Mariana Treviño), leading to a friendship that will change his world. It's an obvious and somewhat beaten plot, even before the Swedish film conquered the world, but it works for a very specific reason: to make you cry. Even though it is directed by the very weak Marc Forster ("007: Quantum of Solace"), the feature film has heart. Obviously, it takes advantage of many successes of the original to build this narrative and, in its mistakes, tries to find solutions - such as the relationship with the neighbor, which in this North American version is much more alive and true. Hanks also does very well: although recycling what Rolf Lassgård did very well, he finds particularities for his Otto. In the end, those who embark on the proposal and forget the original, will not be able to follow the credits with tears taking over the eyes.

Spy Kids: Armageddon
A soft reboot of the famous children's action franchise Spy Kids, once again led by the director of the originals, Robert Rodriguez. In Spy Kids: Armageddon, the plot is the classic one: two kids must save their secret agent parents by becoming spies themselves to confront the villain and save the world with the wildest and most extravagant gadgets. Nothing out of this world: it's innocent family entertainment that you'll enjoy if you liked the original films.
