Why watch this film?

If you like movies about colonization and conquests, 'Beyond the Edge' should please you. Directed by Michael Haussman (from the interesting 'Do Not Disturb'), the feature film tells the true story of British soldier James Brooke. With an explorer's vein, he challenged the British crown in 1840 to rule a kingdom larger than England. Thus, in a plot that mixes colonization, pirates, slavery, and some historical inaccuracies that deserve discernment, we follow this man's journey with touches of drama, adventure, and action. Special mention for Jonathan Rhys Meyers ('Vikings'), who plays a real and fallible James Brooke, beyond the legend, and Dominic Monaghan, Merry from the 'Lord of the Rings' saga.
