In addition to being a success in video games, 'Monster Hunter' has also found its own space in audiovisuals. After a movie starring Milla Jovovich, it's Netflix's turn to bet on a story based on this universe. In 'Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild', young hunter Aiden fights to survive in a world where humans and creatures coexist. From there, we follow the fight of this boy to try to save his village from a dragon. It is a simpler production than the one presented in the movies, since it bets on a less cohesive animation to tell this story. However, it still allows a deep dive into this universe that is expanding more and more.

Here, director Jeymes Samuel (The Harder They Fall) filters the conventions of these films through a black lens, with a cast led by names like Lakeith Stanfield, Alfre Woodard, David Oyelowo, Omar Sy, and Anna Diop, among others. The Book of Clarence follows a man who, aspiring to be someone in life, decides to capitalize on the popularity of Jesus of Nazareth for his own benefit. Through the biblical cliché, the film examines issues such as black identity, the distortion of faith by organized religions, and the very sense of goodness and compassion. It's somewhat uneven but nonetheless entertaining.
