Citizens of the World

Three retirees leave Rome to find a better life abroad.

Why watch this film?

Know those acidic Italian comedies, that on one side caress the heart and on the other provoke good laughs? That's exactly what 'Lontano lontano' provokes us. Directed by Gianni Di Gregorio ('Lunch in August'), the feature film tells the story of three retired elderly people who, due to the ever shorter retirement, decide to go out looking for a country where they can have a better quality of life. Provocative, the movie plays with the issue of the eternal search for a safer and more comfortable life in old age, a moment when governments and society in general simply decide to forget them. Despite the strong context, it finds good humor in the journey of this trio, who are just trying to find a better way to live. The highlight is for the script, which perfectly builds these so remarkable characters, and for the actors, who seem to have fun in their characters. A good movie to pass the time and also reflect a little.
