Why watch this film?
During the 2010s and 2020s, romantic comedies got a new look in the movies. They stopped talking only about women needing to conquer men to show female figures looking at themselves, with decisions and looks beyond this frantic search. 'Fuimos canciones', a Spanish romantic comedy exclusive to Netflix, shows fashion assistant Maca (María Valverde) putting her life back on track after a traumatic break-up. However, things take a turn -- just when everything is going right -- when that ex comes back to try to win her over again. Although it falls into some banal clichés of the genre, it hits the mark by treating Maca with independence, without getting stuck in predetermined looks and stories.

The plot of How to Date Billy Walsh is set in Britain, but follows the same formula as many other similar proposals from the United States: a guy, Archie, has been friends with Amelia since childhood, but secretly loves her. However, when he finally gathers the courage to confess, she falls for Billie Walsh, a handsome and athletic exchange student. The story is predictable and, except for a Netflix Sex Education-like layer of paint, there's not much new. However, it's a good contender for a Gen Z classic.
