Here, one of the most iconic horror films of the 1970s is back in the spotlight for genre fans. In the direct sequel to the 2018 production - which is worth revisiting before tackling 'Halloween Kills' - we follow the endless Halloween night of the town of Haddonfield, Illinois, USA. The protagonist of the original movie, Laurie Strode (played by Jamie Lee Curtis), takes a back seat this time and the protagonists are other survivors of the community, who decide to get rid of the bloodthirsty Michael Myers once and for all. Those familiar with the franchise know that joining forces against the killer is a waste of time and a death sentence, as he is practically immortal. But still, we embark on another bloody journey trying to understand why Myers continues with this killing spree. David Gordon Green, who also directed 'Halloween' (2018) and will lead the third movie of this reboot, manages to bring some creativity to a script that, unfortunately, grows little in almost two hours of film. In any case, the gore combined with the scares is a formula that still manages to guarantee fun for those who like slashers and, without a doubt, Green delivered a great job in this regard.

Plot summary
The nightmare isn’t over as unstoppable killer Michael Myers escapes from Laurie Strode’s trap to continue his ritual bloodbath. Injured and taken to the hospital, Laurie fights through the pain as she inspires residents of Haddonfield, Ill., to rise up against Myers. Taking matters into their own hands, the Strode women and other survivors form a vigilante mob to hunt down Michael and end his reign of terror once and for all.

Forget all the other movies in the franchise: this is a direct sequel to the 1978 classic 'Halloween' directed by horror master John Carpenter. Ignoring all the stories told in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s, this new movie brings back Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, who survived the events of 78 and, suffering from PTSD, seeks revenge against killer Michael Myers. Showing respect towards Carpenter's work, director David Gordon Green does a competent job and is highly praised by critics.
Halloween Ends
Movie that concludes the story started in 'Halloween' 2018 (ignoring all previous films, except the original from 1978) and continued by 'Halloween Kills: The Terror Continues'. Directed again by David Gordon Green, 'Halloween Ends' begins four years after Michael Myers' last appearance, with Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) finally finding some peace. The movie introduces a new character with whom it intends to close a narrative about trauma, fear, prejudice, and marginalization told by its two predecessors. It doesn't always work out and, in fact, ends up leaving Laurie and Michael aside, in a narrative with sudden and not always justified turns. However, for fans of the new trilogy created by Green, it will be a satisfactory closure. Read our full analysis here.

Abigail
Abigail demonstrates why we should keep an eye on the director duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, especially when they have original material at their disposal (they also directed Scream 5 and 6, with mixed results). Abigail is a film that manages to balance the terror and tragedy of its characters with the absurdity of its premise, thanks to a clever script that plays with the conventions of vampire literature, careful direction, and a phenomenal cast (led by Mexican actress Melissa Barrera and Dan Stevens) that fully utilizes their roles. The plot follows a group of kidnappers tasked with a delicate job: to kidnap a millionaire's daughter for ransom. However, it all turns out to be a trap: beneath the guise of a 12-year-old girl, the victim is actually an ancient vampire who likes to play with her food. Like Ready or Not in its time, this film is self-aware, pushing its story and violence to the most absurd and fun limits without falling into self-parody. It won’t change the history of horror cinema, but it’s an excellent (and even stylish for a film of its genre, I dare say) choice for a fun time at the movies with friends.

From director Gibrán Bazán, pupil of legendary cult filmmaker Juan López Moctezuma (Alucarda), NUDUS is a science fiction thriller that, with few resources, aspires to create the worst conceivable dystopia of our digital age: a world in which everyone's data is accessible to everyone, and for any purpose, after a major global hack. The plot follows a woman (Carla Hernández) who, upon waking up from a prolonged coma, is confronted by a stranger (Álex Crusa) who seems to know everything about her: everything she has written on WhatsApp and Facebook, all the videos she has sent to her contacts, all the humiliating information she has said in private. From this moment on, NUDUS seems more concerned with the mystery of its characters than with the greater background of their situation, so it becomes more about the exploitation of its female protagonist than a reflection on technology and data privacy. However, despite the plot going off the rails, the situation lends itself to exemplifying a catastrophic scenario of these breaches in privacy.
