Why watch this film?

If you like European comedies, especially French ones, we have a movie for you. 'Operation Portugal', despite its name, is a French production with a more than amusing premise: a policeman from Morocco is summoned to infiltrate a Portuguese community in France to lead an investigation of utmost importance. From there, debut director Frank Cimière plays with stereotypes and clichés to reproduce the customs and habits of the Portuguese people--something that didn't go over very well with some audiences, who saw the film as a prejudiced piece against the people. But still, there's room to have fun, especially in the exaggerated and somewhat caricatured performance of D'Jal, this figure who needs to transform into a Portuguese.
