A gay teen is kicked out by his family and must navigate life on his own.

Why watch this film?

The French director Gaël Morel directs his first documentary and does a very important job in talking about homophobia. 'Famille tu me hais' dives into this theme from the accounts of young people who have suffered violence from their family and those around them for being who they are. Family rejection is expressed through various types of abuse - both physical and psychological - and we know how difficult it is to recover when the disdain starts at home. The feature shows how this abandonment makes teenagers enter the world of drugs and prostitution to survive. This is a very harsh social reality. With simplicity and modesty, Gaël Morel accompanies each of his testimonies, one more dense than the other. The filmmaker's care is very touching, as you can always notice the care he took to address this delicate subject.
