Why watch this film?

"Dear Evan Hansen" brings good messages about courage and how to deal with problems in a different way than other productions, all without losing the shine of the Broadway musical it is based on. The plot follows a high school student who suffers from depression and anxiety trying to live in the complicated world of young people on social media. With good songs and motivating lessons, the story only fails in terms of rhythm, which is a bit messy and hinders the narrative's progress. From the audience and critics, one of the biggest complaints is the choice of Ben Platt ("Pitch Perfect") to play the teenage protagonist: the actor was 28 years old when he acted in the movie and was rejuvenated for the role. His performance is good and convincing, after all he also gave life to Evan Hansen on stage. However, the question remains why Hollywood continues to use much older actors for younger characters. Regardless, Platt did his job the best way possible and clearly he is not the only artist in the cast whose age does not match. In general, "Dear Evan Hansen" has a great emotional impact. Mental health is a very important topic and yes, cinema does give space for this discussion.
