Why watch this film?

Drenched in paranoia and anxiety, 'Ménage', from first-time director Luan Cardoso, has gained a lot of attention in independent festivals, both nationally and internationally. It's no wonder, after all it is a film full of personality and incredibly singular. It is clear that it is a feature film made by someone who loves cinema, breathing in diverse references and concepts to generate a great chaotic wave, almost surrealistic. Amidst a great mix of events, it is possible to remember classics such as Paul Thomas Anderson's 'Boogie Nights' or Martin Scorsese's 'Goodfellas'. However, the biggest references come from marginal cinema, especially Carlos Reichembach's 'Film Demência', a surrealistic night journey that adapts the myth of Faust for the contemporary bohemian. 'Ménage' is about corruption, politicking, chaos and a lot of paranoia from drugs, and it is this paranoia that defines the aesthetics of the film, completely hallucinated. A daring portrait that captures in allegories very well the circus that is Brazilian politics. For those with a strong stomach to endure the intense madness.
