Hideous

A popstar's talk-show appearance turns into a surreal journey of love, shame and blood.

Trailer

Why watch this film?

Presented at film festivals such as Cannes or Guanajuato, 'Hideous' is a horror short film divided into three musical segments, made in collaboration with director Yann Gonzalez ('Knife in the Heart') and musician Oliver Sim (best known as the bassist of The XX) as accompaniment for his first solo album, 'Hideous Bastard'. The plot follows Sim himself, who is invited to a talk show that quickly turns into a journey full of love, sadness and blood, with the particular queer sensibility that Gonzalez displays. In Sim's words, it is an exercise of "exorcism" for the feelings of "shame and pain" he was writing about during the production of the album. In short: this is a feverish queer terror rave that fans of the craziest manifestations of the genre will love, as well as being unmissable for The XX fans too.
