Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

Trailer

Why watch this film?

Winner of the Audience Award and Jury Prize at Sundance, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is a coming-of-age story following Greg (Thomas Mann), a teen who just wants to get through his senior year without any drama, making short films with his only friend, Earl (RJ Cyler). But his humble plans change when he is forced into forming a friendship with Raquel (Olivia Cooke), a classmate who has just been diagnosed with leukemia, and they begin to transform each others' lives. With its premise, this could seem like a typical tearjerker teenage movie looking to move in the most blatant way (in the style of proposals like The Fault in Our Stars). However, it is actually a story that portrays its central relationships in a more sober and realistic manner, helped by excellent performances from its three leads, but above all from Cooke.
