Why watch this film?
After talking about a delirious love in 'Jonas' and the routine of the Alvorada Palace in the documentary 'Alvorada', directed together with Anna Muylaert, filmmaker Lô Politi now turns to the family - even if it's dysfunctional and full of problems - in the interesting 'Sol'. The plot is quite simple: Téo (Rômulo Braga), who is spending some time with his daughter, the result of an already ended marriage, begins to receive unexpected calls. Soon we discover that they are people trying to talk to him about the health of Theodoro (Everaldo Pontes), a father with whom Téo has not talked for a long time. It is the joining of destiny, a father-to-father plot. But, in the direction, is Politi. She, with a sensitivity not seen before in 'Jonas' or 'Alvorada', inserts common elements of the family drama to develop the story. It is the almost desperate attempt of the father to create bonds with his daughter, it is the belligerence of Téo and Theodoro - two men who, in addition to the genetic link, still carry the same name. Téo retired it. Theodoro is silent. Already the elements of the road movie arrive little by little, as father and daughter need to find a destination for the grandfather, debilitated by life. There are some interesting ideas, such as the old man's attachment to the wooden scowl. It shows a connection with a past that does not say much about Téo, which ends up repelling the two characters even more.

Plot summary
A recently separated father, who cannot reconnect with his ten-year-old daughter, is forced to travel with her to the interior of the country in search of the very father who abandoned him as a child and now wants to die. The forced coexistence with the father he hates and his daughter's immediate connection with her grandfather tests all his limits, but gives him the chance to reconnect with his daughter.

Alvorada
The impeachment process of President Dilma Rousseff has already spawned some movies. Two of them, 'O Processo' and 'Democracia em Vertigem', are truly above average in quality, with impressive production and care in addressing the subject. Then, the mediocre 'Excelentíssimos' also arrived in theaters, trying to be more of a historical document of that period of political tension. Now, 'Alvorada' fits in between these two qualities of production. After all, directors Anna Muylaert and Lô Politi hit the mark by showing the routine at the Palácio do Alvorado - the president's house in Brasília - and going beyond the political chaos. There are really rich scenes that show Dilma in her intimacy. But the highlight is in the scenes of the employees trying to carry on with life despite the hurricane outside. It's a shame that there are clear technical problems, such as sound capture failures, and an incoherent script that wanders between Dilma and the routine of the Palace. It could have been clearer in its proposal. But, still, in the end, it brings good contributions to politics in Brazil.

In Kidnapped (Rapito), Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio delves into one of the murkiest and most controversial episodes in the history of the Catholic Church, the "Mortara case". In 1851, when Jewish boy Edgardo Mortara becomes gravely ill, his Catholic nanny decides to baptize him in an emergency. However, papal law dictates that all Catholics must be raised as such, so the cardinal orders the boy to be taken and handed over to the church, against his parents' wishes, who decide to fight for him. The film recounts a controversial case that captured the attention of the rest of Europe and America, and skillfully portrays the clash of interests between the waning power of the church, Mortara's parents, and public opinion, with irreversible consequences for all involved.

'Green Border' - In the treacherous and swampy forests that make up the so called “green border” between Belarus and Poland, refugees from the Middle East and Africa trying to reach the European Union are trapped in a geopolitical crisis cynically engineered by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko.
