Why watch this film?
While visiting his family in Mexico, teenage Alex gains an unlikely companion when he discovers a young chupacabra hiding in his grandpa’s shed. In order to save the mythical creature, Alex and his cousins must embark on the adventure of a lifetime.
"From the director Jonas Cuarón (Desierto) and produced by Chris Columbus (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone), Chupa is a family-friendly movie. The story follows a boy who travels from Kansas to visit his family in Northern Mexico and makes friends with a Chupacabras puppy - the contemporary Mexican folklore mythical creature - which is being pursued by an evil scientist (Christian Slater) who wants to capture it for experiments. Despite its unfortunate title, this is a family adventure that could be described as E.T., the Extra-Terrestrial, but in Mexican version. If you enjoy this kind of movies, Chupa is a good choice."
