Why watch this film?

A biographical drama that tells a story that is not widely known: the story of Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, who is today considered the first classical composer of African descent. Chevalier tells his story from childhood, as the son of a plantation owner and his slave, to his rise as a violinist, composer, fencing champion and clashes with Marie Antoinette. It is an excellent drama carried by great performances, especially from Kelvin Harrison Jr. (The Waves) in the lead role, accompanied by names like Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) and Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody).
