This is the third movie by the partnership of Beto Brant and Renato Ciasca, based on the homonymous book from Marçal Aquino, who has already been present in many other movies by Brant as a screenwriter or due to his books. 'I Would Receive the Worst News from Your Beautiful Lips' brings an intriguing love triangle that urges you to keep watching the movie. Camila Pitanga charms in every scene she appears and succeeds in conveying all the dramatic elements of her character.

Plot summary
The photographer Cauby moves and settles down in a small town in the countryside of Pará. When he meets the model Lavínia, who is the wife of Pastor Ernani, they have a torrid love affair. Cauby asks Lavínia to leave her husband and the town with him but she refuses, Cauby does not know about the dishonored past of his muse and her gratitude to Ernani, who saved her from the streets and the drugs.

Laden with a reflection on how we view art - and we are watching a movie which is also an artistic expression. In this context, the whole detective atmosphere has also been inserted - after all, we can't forget that the name of the production is 'A Delicate Crime'.
Belly Up
"The Killers" brings an intriguing, tense and very well-constructed story - flirting directly with film noir. Another great movie that makes up the résumé of director Beto Brant and, by the way, was his first feature film and at a time when Brazilian productions were being resumed after the impeachment of Fernando Collor. It was a great debut for Brant, with a strong cast, including Murilo Benício, Chico Diaz and Maria Padilha. A very good work that was part of the selection of the Toronto Festival.
Friendly Fire
Extremely relevant to any Brazilian, the backdrop of the movie is the country's history - involving the legacy of dictatorship still present in Brazil. 'Ação entre Amigos' has a non-linear timeline, with scenes from the past at various moments, to show the psychological traumas of the characters. It is very interesting this characteristic of the film, which also makes us reflect on everything that has already happened in our country (and on what continues to happen).
The Trespasser
One of the most recognized works of director Beto Brant's career, 'The Invader' was featured in several festivals around the world, including being awarded at Sundance. The police film discusses greed and corporatism present in large cities, and shows how strong national cinema can be. One of the highest points of 'The Invader' is the performance of Paulo Miklos (ex-member of Titãs), which is fantastic. In fact, the whole cast is good, featuring Mariana Ximenes, Marco Ricca, Alexandre Borges, and George Freire. Soundtrack and direction are impeccable.

Underdog
In its effort to raise awareness about the precarious social reality of certain sectors of the population, Mexican cinema tends to fall into miserabilism (or so-called "poverty porn"), whether in documentaries or fiction. The quest of Mexican cinema for new creative and narrative horizons is ongoing, and in the case of Underdog (Correr para vivir), director and co-writer Gerardo Dorantes opts for what, in its conventions, is an action and crime thriller extrapolated to the context of the Rarámuri (or Tarahumara) indigenous people of northern Mexico, famous for their running tradition (and their extraordinary talent for it). The plot follows two brothers: Omero (Vladimir Rivera), who dreams of being a runner; and Capó (Manuel Cruz Vivas), who is more talented but also troubled. Both are dragged into a life of service to the drug trade when Capó, in an attempt to provide for his pregnant girlfriend, fails in a cocaine delivery. To be honest, it's a good attempt to steer Mexican cinema towards other directions that are not the typical exploitation of social dramas or anthropological documentaries. However, the film ends up falling into the same vices, representing Rarámuri culture from a superficial and idealized exoticism, creating entertainment from a real social context with little sensitivity.
Downtown Owl
'Downtown Owl' - Searching for a break from her cosmopolitan life in Milwaukee, Julia Rabia (Lily Rabe), arrives in the closeknit Reagan-era town of Owl, North Dakota for a one-semester high school teaching job. But when the small town turns out to be a wonderland of second-string poets, smoldering Marlboro Men, and a social hierarchy that echoes high school, Julia doesn't know if she's come to town to get away from home or to find it. Ed Harris, Vanessa Hudgens, Henry Golding, and Finn Wittrock also star in this Great Plains dark dramedy directed by Lily Rabe and Hamish Linklater. Based on the novel by Chuck Klosterman.
