Why watch this film?
Although it doesn't innovate too much in terms of the typical romantic comedy formula, 'Something's Gotta Give' had the novelty (at the time) of focusing on an older couple. However, it helps a lot that it has two true legends as protagonists: each and every scene between Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson is glorious.

The Intern
For hardcore movie buffs and followers of Robert De Niro's career, it has likely been confusing to see the legendary star of "Taxi Driver" and "Raging Bull" act in fairly average movies like "Meet the Fockers," "Righteous Kill," or "Grumpier Old Men" in his later career. Among them, "The Intern" has been one of the more decent productions of his recent filmography, largely thanks to his charisma and on-screen chemistry with Anne Hathaway ("The Devil Wears Prada"). It's also a script that tackles contemporary themes, such as the ideological gap between generations, the precarious family and economic situation many elderly citizens find themselves in (as well as the need to appreciate their wisdom), as well as the challenges faced by working women at home and in the workplace. It's not the deepest film on any of these topics, but it's appreciated that a comedy whose purpose is pure entertainment addresses them.
The Holiday
One of the lightest, funniest, and most enjoyable stories about intertwining destinies. Here, four lives come into focus in the narrative: Amanda (Cameron Diaz), an executive from Los Angeles; Iris (Kate Winslet), a journalist disillusioned with love life; Graham (Jude Law), a dashing rogue; and Miles (Jack Black), a laid-back and funny soundtrack composer. These four, due to a trip taken by the two women, end up meeting (and sometimes missing) each other in a way that will change their lives forever. It's hard not to travel in the world of possibilities of this simple but well-told Nancy Meyers story (‘The Holiday’).

How to Date Billy Walsh
There's a reason why, despite being so repetitive, teen romantic comedies like Clueless work so well: we've all been there, somehow. The plot of How to Date Billy Walsh is set in Britain, but follows the same formula as many other similar proposals from the United States: a guy, Archie, has been friends with Amelia since childhood, but secretly loves her. However, when he finally gathers the courage to confess, she falls for Billie Walsh, a handsome and athletic exchange student. The story is predictable and, except for a Netflix Sex Education-like layer of paint, there's not much new. However, it's a good contender for a Gen Z classic.
The Taste of Things
From Vietnamese-French director Anh Hung Tran (The Scent of Green Papaya) and starring the legendary Juliette Binoche and Benoît Magimel, The Taste of Things was France's selection for the 2024 Oscars, although it was not nominated. Set in 1889 and based on the character of Dodin-Bouffant created by Marcel Rouff, the story follows a chef (Magimel) enchanted by his cook (Binoche), for whom he feels not only culinary admiration, but genuine love. However, she is not ready to take the step into marriage and is happy and content with the relationship they have. Sensual in its visuality and narrative, it is a powerful story of love and about love, which, while not entirely breaking free from conventions, is elevated by the formidable talent of its protagonists.
Me Before You
Young and quirky Louisa "Lou" Clark moves from one job to the next to help her family make ends meet. Her cheerful attitude is put to the test when she becomes a caregiver for Will Traynor, a wealthy young banker left paralyzed from an accident two years earlier. Will's cynical outlook starts to change when Louisa shows him that life is worth living. As their bond deepens, their lives and hearts change in ways neither one could have imagined.
