With an ambitious visual style, 'Assassination Nation' aspires to be more than just a simple story of violence and action. This movie tackles issues such as privacy on social media - and its violation, especially in the case of women. Unfortunately, the film sometimes forgets to delve into these matters, and usually prioritizes violent energy over any reflection, but it is so visually fascinating that it justifies its almost two-hour duration. The cast features young talents such as Odessa Young ('The Daughter'), Abra, Suki Waterhouse ('The Divergent Series: Insurgent') and Hari Nef ('Transparent'). The direction is by Sam Levinson, creator of the series 'Euphoria'.

An American soldier at large in Hong Kong, Van Damme becomes involved in the Kumite, a highly illegal kickboxing competition. Whoever survives the bout will be crowned Kumite champion of the world…a title that has plenty of challengers with homicide in their hearts. The finale offers a duel to the death between Van Damme and reigning Kumite king Bolo Yeung. The script is based on the real-life exploits of martial arts champ Frank Dux, who serves as the film's fight coordinator.

With shades of Dan Brown and a script by Jean Claude Van Damme himself, alongside Les Weldon (screenwriter of another action star film, Replicant), the movie is what every fan of the Belgian actor wants: brawling, with a fun plot, and never boring.

Enemies Closer, a movie starring Van Damme, brings a fun story: Henry (Tom Everett Scott) and Clay (Orlando Jones) are mortal enemies who must set aside their differences to help a drug lord (Jean-Claude Van Damme) locate a missing drug shipment. The film features a plot full of twists that keeps the viewer constantly engaged, in a good mix of suspense and action. Van Damme also steps out of his comfort zone, playing this crime boss full of quirks - but still with plenty of brawling.
