The Kitchen

Three women take over their husbands' criminal empire in 1970s Hell's Kitchen.

Why watch this film?

Based on the Vertigo (a former imprint of DC Comics) comic book called 'The Kitchen' – which in Brazil was released as 'A Cozinha: Rainhas do Crime' – 'The Kitchen' is the first feature film directed by Andrea Berloff, screenwriter of films like 'The Twin Towers' and 'Straight Outta Compton'). The result, frankly, has many incongruities and an irregular tone, which unexpectedly shifts from drama to acidic humor. However, it has a solid cast led by Tiffany Haddish, Elisabeth Moss and Melissa McCarthy who, along with the subtext of female emancipation in a world of gangsters, deserve a chance.
