Why watch this film?
Selected at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016 - but unfortunately, remained unreleased in Brazil until 2019 - 'La danseuse' is a French drama that will certainly captivate art and dance lovers. After all, the record of the dancer is sublime. The script tells the story of Loïe Fuller, one of the pioneers of modern dance, who died in 1928. Unfortunately, there are several poetic liberties in the film, which invalidates the work somewhat as a historical record. In any case, it is a relevant portrait, showing that Loïe is not only still important to dance, but can also inspire new generations.
