Why watch this film?

.Rarely do we have the opportunity to experience Iranian cinema on this side of the Atlantic, and it's even more difficult when the films don't carry the stamp of Abbas Kiarostami, Asghar Farhadi or Jafar Panahi. ‘Ashkan, the Enchanted Ring and Other Stories’ is the debut feature from Shahram Mokri, a young filmmaker from Iran who is better known for his film ‘Fish & Cat’. It's a dark comedy about the nature of life - often absurd, contradictory and incomprehensible - yet connected beneath the apparent chaos. Obviously made with limited resources but no less entertaining, the film has been compared to Quentin Tarantino's famous ‘Pulp Fiction’.
