Why watch this film?
Mexican filmmaker Abe Rosenberg (director of 'Archivo 253' and screenwriter of 'Mientras el lobo no está') bets on bringing a well-known and tested formula among Hollywood film fans to our context: the "buddy comedy", in the tradition of 'Tango y Cash', 'Arma mortal' and, more recently, 'Dos tipos peligrosos'. The protagonistic duo of Alfonso Dosal and Adrián Vázquez achieve their goal, since they are very funny together. The script does not avoid some commonplaces of the subgenre, although it has a curious twist that, although it stretches plausibility to the extreme, serves to comment on our roles as citizens in a corrupt system.

Italian filmmaker Nanni Moretti (winner of the Palme d'Or in 2001 for The Son's Room) returns with what has been called his 8½, for obvious reasons. A Brighter Tomorrow is the story of a filmmaker struggling to shoot a movie about the Hungarian Revolution, while trying to save his marriage to his producer wife. The film satirizes the current state of cinema, and perhaps indulges a bit too much in its nostalgia. It is far from the best that veteran Moretti has to offer, but if you've enjoyed his previous films, you will undoubtedly enjoy this one.
