Spider In the Web

A young operative investigates an older agent's suspicious behavior in a slow-burning spy thriller.

Why watch this film?

This is a simple and straightforward spy thriller, in the tradition of John le Carré novels that have been adapted into films in the past, such as 'The Constant Gardener' or 'The Spy Who Knew Too Much'. Despite the inspiration, 'Spider in the Web' is not based on a text by the author, but maintains the plot of intrigues with international implications to involve the viewer - with more emphasis on twists than on action. This makes it a somewhat slow suspense, but very enjoyable for the most part thanks to the performance of Ben Kingsley (Oscar winner for 'Gandhi') as a veteran spy, and Monica Bellucci ('007 Against Spectre') as the Femme Fatale of the story.
