Why watch this film?

From director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (awarded at the Sundance Film Festival for 'Me and Earl and the Dying Girl' and Emmy-nominated for directing an episode of 'American Horror Story'), 'The Current War' is a historical drama about two science and business men, Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse, who waged a war to capitalize on the technological revolution that defined the modern world: electricity. It's a fascinating story told with an interesting visual style and performances from a star-studded cast featuring Benedict Cumberbatch ('The Imitation Game'), Michael Shannon ('Nocturnal Animals'), Nicholas Hoult ('Tolkien'), Katherine Waterston ('Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them') and Tom Holland ('Spider-Man: Far From Home'). Even if the pacing may be a bit slow and the final result somewhat conventional, it's a solid choice to learn more about this period of history that defined so much of modern technology.
