Why watch this film?

The creative duo of actress, producer, and screenwriter Sofía Espinosa ("Ver llover", "La gran promesa") with director Max Zunino ("Los bañistas") comes together for the drama "Bruma", which deviates from usual conventions of Mexican cinema (and not just because it takes place in Berlin). The film sensitively recreates the emotional turbulence of dealing with what is expected of us, an expectation usually imposed by traditions and gender roles. In this sense, the movie may remind you of Almodóvar's classic "All About My Mother" or more contemporary offerings like "My Dad Is Lola" thanks to characters like Ángel (played by German queer cinema icon Dieter Rita Scholl), someone who refuses to be defined and pigeonholed as a result.
