Why watch this film?

Based on Sol Yurick's homonymous novel (inspired by the Greek history 'Anabasis', by the Greek historian and soldier Xenophon), 'The Warriors' is a movie directed by Walter Hill, about a dystopia in New York, focusing on street gangs that rule the city. At the time, it was poorly received for romanticizing violence, with stiff performances and dialogues. Today, however, it is considered a cult classic for the same reasons, a product of pop culture with a certain comic book aesthetic, whose scenes have become well known. It was an inspiration for other films, such as Quentin Tarantino's 'Pulp Fiction'.
