However, going against the grain of what American cinema usually tends to forget, this one takes a risk. At the center of attention, we see a classroom in a peripheral school, far from the elites. Thus, director Richard LaGravenese (of the teenage fantasy 'Sixteen Moons') gets close to reality by showing the social and economic differences of a fragmented country, both inside and outside the school. A well-made drama, ideal for those who like those productions that ride the Oscar wave with emotional and inspiring stories."
