Why watch the movie The Light?
"The Light (Das Licht, 2025) is a film by German director Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run, 1998), premiered at the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival. The plot follows a German family whose life seems relatively normal until a mysterious Syrian immigrant, Farrah (Tala Al Deen), appears in their lives as a housekeeper. However, her presence shakes up much more in the family's routine, triggering changes and unearthing secrets that will affect them all. Tykwer presents a story that reflects power imbalances – both in domestic life and between countries – exploring how globalization can dehumanize the individual."
