Why watch this film?
One year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers. Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered one by one…only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening.
"Until Dawn is a film that had everything going for it. After all, this film by David S. Sandberg (Lights Out) is inspired by a video game of the same name that already has a well-structured narrative. How can you do something original and different? Screenwriters Blair Butler and Gary Dauberman do a great job of telling the story of a group of friends who end up in an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere. There, they will live the same night over and over again, as if it were an evil Groundhog Day, where they will have to find a way to survive different threats — from witches to serial killers. Even with overly didactic or uninspired moments, Until Dawn is entertaining and knows how to truly scare, using and abusing various subgenres of horror, from the fear of clowns to monsters from popular culture. In the end, it is good entertainment for fans of the game or not."
