"Unusual for Dutch cinema that is usually exported to the rest of the world, 'Family Matters' is a film grounded in the most conventional melodrama with all its elements, from family tragedy to the personal conflicts that accompany it. Although well made, the movie really doesn't delve much into the motivations or relationships between the antagonistic title sisters, and although eventually enjoyable, it doesn't offer anything extraordinary for those looking for a movie that transcends formulaic family drama."
