Why watch this film?
After losing his beloved mother, a man risks everything to honor her by opening an Italian restaurant with actual grandmothers as the chefs.
"Nonnas is a film directed by Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being a Wallflower), based on the life of Joe Scaravella, the owner of a famous Italian restaurant in Staten Island. The film tells the story of how, after the death of his mother, he came up with the idea of opening a restaurant where Italian grandmothers, or "nonnas," could work cooking their traditional recipes and passing on a legacy. The premise and execution, like any good Chbosky film, are very sentimental, but the great performances from the cast (with names like Vince Vaughn, Linda Cardellini, Susan Sarandon, Lorraine Bracco, and Talia Shire) balance things out to create an emotional and very entertaining experience."
