Jupiter

Selected at the Sitges and Macabro horror, fantasy and sci-fi film festivals, Jupiter could be best described as a coming-of-age psychological horror and apocalyptic science fiction film. The story follows a teenager struggling to adapt, rejected by her beliefs: at home, her parents – who also suffer from having an autistic child – have instilled in her that humanity's salvation lies on the planet Jupiter, which they are preparing to travel to from a private retreat in the mountains alongside other believers. As the narrative reveals the past and the truth of what is happening, Lea must decide whether to follow her parents into this new phase... or forge her own path on Earth. This film is a powerful proposal that, using genre cinema conventions, provides a portrait of the everyday suffering and precariousness that drive people to search for answers and meaning, even if they do so in the wrong places.
