"Mond (also known as Moon) is an Austrian film directed by Iraqi filmmaker Kurdwin Ayub, awarded at the Locarno Film Festival. The plot follows a former professional kickboxer who receives a peculiar job offer: to go to Jordan and become a private trainer for three young women, daughters of a wealthy family. However, upon arriving, she is shocked by how the girls are treated, forbidden to access the internet, constantly watched by their brother and guards, and confined to the house. The film doesn't seek to provide a dramatic resolution to the conflicts presented, but rather reflect on two radically different female experiences: that of a European woman, relatively free to choose and change; and that of three young Muslim women trapped in both a physical and ideological prison."
