In Johannesburg, a young gang leader faces life-changing choices after a violent incident forces him to confront his humanity.
Why watch the movie Tsotsi?
"Tsotsi is a stark and moving portrait of the reality of many young people forgotten by the system. Directed by Gavin Hood—winner of the Oscar for Best International Feature Film for this title—the film follows little Rosario, an 11-year-old boy immersed in a daily life of violence and abandonment on the streets of Naples. With his grandmother ill and few options around him, he ends up recruited as a hitman by the local mafia. It's a raw drama, shocking due to the protagonist's maturity and the coldness of the circumstances, but also moving, showing the loss of innocence in a way that is as real as it is devastating. A powerful, necessary film that provokes profound reflection."
