After wildfires take his ranch, a cowboy named Dusty winds up in a FEMA camp, finding community with others who lost homes, including his daughter and ex-wife.

"Amid the ongoing climate crisis in full swing, and unfortunately in a literal sense, Rebuilding connects with our time, especially after the wildfires that devastated California in early 2025. The second feature by Max Walker-Silverman (A Love Song), the film follows Dustin, a farmer played by Josh O’Connor (La Chimera, Challengers), who loses his family ranch in the Colorado wildfires and moves temporarily into a camp. While trying to reconnect with his daughter (Lily LaTorre) and ex-wife (Meghann Fahy, The White Lotus), he finds hope in a community of neighbors also seeking to start over. Josh O’Connor brings depth to a melancholic and vulnerable man, surrounded by his own emotional fences. It recalls the beautifully written cowboys of Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog. The time spent with his daughter, which yields emotional scenes, and the closeness of his neighbors allow him to glimpse the possibility of a new home. Despite the painful theme and the irreversible losses of its characters, the film embraces a perspective of hope. Ultimately, it is not a disaster movie, but a reflection on what comes after — how we can rebuild ourselves as individuals and, above all, as a community."
