"'The Escape' manages to be a daring movie by showing that women can choose not to have children - a role that is strongly linked to men and that suffers a great prejudice when viewed from a female perspective. It is a topic rarely discussed in cinema or used in dense stories like 'We Need to Talk About Kevin', which ends up blaming the woman for the choices her son makes. The feature questions the patriarchal society and puts this discussion into play by showing that the protagonist is not satisfied with her life as a wife and mother. She wants something more than that and it is usually preached that a woman becomes complete when she has children and gets married.
