Why watch the movie Nova Lituania?
"This is the first feature film by Lithuanian filmmaker Karolis Kaupinis, with a spirit resulting from a peculiar mix of melancholy and ironic humor, captured by a black-and-white photography of an elegance, stillness, and emptiness comparable to that of 'Ida' or 'Cold War' both by PaweĆ Pawlikowski. Just like those movies, 'Nova Lituania' deals with the loneliness of not belonging or, in this case, the desperation of being very close to experiencing displacement as a result of a war."
