Why watch the movie Canary?
"An unexpected and creative coming-of-age, 'Kanarie' surprises with its story of a boy who is called up to serve his two-year mandatory military service in the South African Defence Force Choir, known as the "Kanaries". Colorful and unusual, the feature film brings a different look not only to musicals, but also to the Apartheid that dominated South Africa. Mainly due to director Christiaan Olwagen ('Poppie Nongena'), who was able to mix genres while also bringing his own inventiveness into the narrative."
