Born socially as a man in the interior of Paraíba, northeast Brazil, a Franciscan friar, she assumed her transgenderism and turned it into a cause to fight for. After graduating in medicine in the state of Pernambuco, she moved to France at the time of the emergence of the HIV virus and the beginning of AIDS research. That's when she started a social struggle in defense of sex workers in the country and founded an NGO that fights for the rights of minorities and combats human trafficking. A strong, urgent, and necessary film that tells a story that should be even more celebrated and known throughout Brazil."
