Why watch the movie Strip Down, Rise Up?
"Due to structural machismo in society and a frequent attempt to limit women's bodily expression, pole dance has been associated with sexuality - and not just as another style of dance and physical exercise. Now, the documentary 'Strip Down, Rise Up' shows how pole dance goes far beyond sexuality. Here, director Michèle Ohayon shows how women of all ages and ethnicities try to heal past traumas related to their own image with artistic pole dance, learning more about the body, life and the progress of self-esteem. A strong and necessary documentary."
