"At the time of its release, 'The Next Karate Kid' deserved to receive the Golden Raspberry Award for a sequel nobody asked for. It's a sad but fitting recognition, as the movie is nothing more than a failed attempt to get more mileage out of a franchise that had already lost its strength, even with Ralph Macchio. It's only worth it for fans of the saga to see Noriyuki "Pat" Morita reprise his iconic role and witness Hilary Swank's debut as the lead."
