Documentary film about the life and career of Brazilian singer Chorão, leader of the "Charlie Brown Jr." band. From testimonies about his personal and professional life and archival footage, the film follows the story of one of the most important rock stars in Brazil. Beginning in the early 90's, when his band released their first album and hit the radio stations, Chorão lived two intense decades of national and international success, full of controversial moments, until his premature death, from drug overdose, in 2013. The film explores different facets over the years and tries to reflect: what is the price of fame?
"Dead in 2013 at the age of 42, Chorão became a legend in Brazilian music. With his own style, incorporating mannerisms from American skate culture, he made history with the band Charlie Brown Jr. and with hits that remain alive in pop culture, such as 'Dias de Luta, Dias de Glória', 'Só os Loucos Sabem' and 'Proibida pra Mim'. Now, Chorão's short (and intense) trajectory is told in the movie 'Marginal Alado', by Felipe Novaes. The film does not stray far from the already battered and beaten biographical documentaries about MPB musicians and singers -- such as Simonal, Raul Seixas, Mamonas Assassinas and many others -- with a succession of interviews and archival images. However, fans of the singer and songwriter, who has become almost like a messiah of a religion based on skate, strong phrases and a good beat, will undoubtedly be moved.
