"Don't expect to find in 'Stardus' a vigorous musical biography like 'Bohemian Rhapsody' or 'Rocketman'. This biopic of David Bowie, unlike what happened with the productions about Freddie Mercury and Elton John, was not authorized by the relatives -- following an old wish of Bowie not to be the target of the notorious biopics. But still, director Gabriel Range ('The Death of George W. Bush') stood his ground and made 'Stardus', a movie about Bowie with practically no mark of the star. After all, the songs couldn't be used in the soundtrack and most of the story was abstracted without a very reliable "background" -- not to mention the strange performance of Johnny Flynn, who doesn't have much to do with the original Bowie. Maybe it's a pastime for those who want to know at a glance about the life of the voice behind 'Starman' and 'Heroes'."
