Plan 9 From Outer Space

"Directed, written, produced and edited by Ed Wood, 'Plan 9 From Outer Space' was considered by many critics of its time as the worst movie ever made. Does it really deserve this title? From a technical point of view, the movie is indeed bad. It features terrible performances, simplistic production, an editing that does not favor the rhythm (despite the short duration) and a confusing script, but is that enough for the title? Besides the technical (de)merit, there are many other things to be considered, and context is essential: Ed Wood had very little knowledge or filmmaking skills, and yet he still worked hard to make his movies, because he had a passion for the work. 'Plan 9' was filmed with a very low budget in just three weeks, and there were still several complications on the set, such as the death of one of the actors. Even so, he overcame the problems and finished the movie, which also has positive merits, such as the idea of ​​combining aliens and zombies, long before they gained mainstream popularity. The filmmaker was one of the first to work with micro-budgets, which influenced his aesthetics and final results, one could even say that he was a precursor of the campy aesthetic. Thus, despite everything, Ed Wood was a pioneer in several aspects, and managed to become a renowned author."
