Why watch the movie The Twentieth Century?
""The 20th Century" is a political satire filled with pastiche and surrealism. Perhaps a context in Canadian political history offers a greater understanding of the film's contexts, but its overall purpose is clear to anyone: the ridicule of power plays in any system of government. The visual concept is amazing and completely reminiscent of an old movie with its photography full of textures, edits, and characteristic lettering, and theatrical performances. A sharp satire and full of sarcasm, perversely funny and very witty."
