"Since 'Jaws', by Steven Spielberg, cinema has been giving audiences stories of dangerous sharks in the deep sea - even though the fame of these animals, with so few cases of attacks on humans, is almost unjustified. Some productions hit the mark (‘Shallow Waters’, ‘Deep Fear’) and others brought films that replace the feeling of fear and excitement for the story only out of shame (like all the sequences of ‘Jaws’). 'Great White' is, however, in a middle ground. It's not memorable and scary, but it also doesn't cause that awkwardness that makes us want to turn off the TV. Director Martin Wilson (‘I Promise’) casts an all-unknown cast to play with the underwater risks of the open sea. There is room to have fun with the story, which is hardly taken seriously, but there are also some well-fitted scares by the director, who shows that the subgenre is far from exhausted."
