Sequestrada

"'Sequestrada' is a very singular movie in its form, making it an interesting experience. The story of the feature revolves around a daughter of an indigenous chief who gets lost and is kidnapped, and the unfolding of this plot, while the subtext addresses the exploitation of indigenous lands, how it affects tribes and even influences climate change. The ace up the movie's sleeve, however, is the way it is conducted: the feature is low-budget and features few known actors -- in fact most of the characters are non-actors playing themselves -- and the camera work is done in a very intimate manner, as if trying to capture the events. These elements contribute to the movie having a very documentary-like character, thus defining itself as a hybrid on the thin line between fiction and reality. The story is sensitive, captivating and informative as well, bringing to the screen events that get little attention from the media, blended in a very peculiar plot."
