Paulo Gale is a black Brazilian man, a typical "day-by-day survivor", always doing his best to bring some happiness in his life, and by happiness he means money. When finding himself a dead end, he discovers the opportunity to become a football manager by leading some boy from the neighborhood to becoming the new Neymar of international soccer.

"After surprising with the good 'M8: When Death Helps Life', filmmaker Jeferson De moves away from drama and embraces comedy with enthusiasm. In 'Correndo Atrás', the director tells the story, adapted from a book by comedian Hélio de la Peña, of Ventania (Ailton Graça), a middle-aged man who is still looking for his opportunity in life. And it comes when he meets Glanderson (Juan Paiva), a good soccer player who could be the promise of national football - and also of Ventania's life. Very Brazilian, the production succeeds in bringing a light film to the audience to watch on an afternoon to spend time with a story that could certainly be real in any Brazilian periphery. There is also the increase of Jeferson De having taken care to put, mainly, black professionals in front and behind the cameras, making the comedy one of the most diverse of the genre in Brazil. Good, fun, socially relevant. It is, finally, a pleasant surprise."
