Inspired by the true story of the Portuguese King Dom Pedro, who unearthed his beloved to crown her queen after her death, Pedro and Ines recounts this unparalleled passion story over three eras.

"Portugal is a land full of legends, myths and stories. From Dom Sebastião to the strong story of D. Pedro I and his beloved Inês de Castro. It was a heartbreaking love that left no stone unturned in the Portuguese kingdom. After all, Inês was not the intended one. It was a true love born in the confines of the 14th century, defying paradigms and conventions. In the movies, the story arrives through 'Pedro and Inês'. Directed by António Ferreira, from the provocative 'Embargo', the feature film is an adaptation of Rosa Lobato Faria's novel 'A Trança de Inês'. However, do not expect a traditional story about Dom Pedro I and Inês de Castro. In fact, what António and Rosa do is reverse History and amplify its myths. To do this, the feature film shows these two characters in three different times: in the past, more precisely in the 14th century, when the story happened; in the present, with these two as advertisers in a complicated relationship; and finally, Pedro and Inês in a dystopian future. Not to mention the protagonist himself living a kind of delirium in a clinic. Despite being too repetitive, the mixture of these three temporalities plays with the viewer's senses and, above all, amplifies the idea that as History (and love and hate) are circular."
