Nina is an ordinary 13-year-old girl, full of personal conflicts. One day, after finding a mysterious red scroll, she is transported to the fantastical universe of Telurian. In this mysterious world analogous to Earth, inhabited by several fantastic creatures, she will have to overcome various challenges in search of a mysterious object to return home.
"Making movies in Brazil is often an act of resistance. Producing a feature-length animation, then, is almost an impossible mission. Even so, director Nelson Botter Jr. and Tortuga Studios spent no less than ten years to make 'The Red Scroll', a film that, without space in theaters, ended up becoming the first Brazilian animated feature on Disney+. The result is a simple but still moving and engaging cartoon about a 13-year-old girl (Nina, with original voice by Any Gabrielly) who, with problems at home, finds a magical scroll and embarks on an adventure in a fantastic world. The story works as a great metaphor about maturity, bringing themes such as love, pain and life discoveries. It will certainly make pre-adolescent audiences identify with the plot, helping them face the difficulties of the world during and post-pandemic, with their sacrifices, losses and dilemmas."
